The National Day of Honour is being held to mark the end of Canada’s involvement in the Afghanistan War, where 158 Canadian soldiers, sailors and airmen lost their lives. Army reservists from 38 Canadian Brigade Group will conduct the ceremony, which is scheduled to begin at 12:10 p.m. Friday and will be broadcast live on this webpage.

The ceremony will include two minutes of silence at 12:30 p.m., which has been co-ordinated to happen simultaneously at ceremonies across the country.

More than 40,000 members of the Canadian Armed Forces served during the country’s 12-year involvement in Afghanistan.
